The idea behind Flora lays within the concept of building a piece of furniture that can go with you once you go out in the garden and has everything in it for you do just one whole trip and reduce walk backs for other knacks you may need. Similar to toolbox trolley’s from workshops.
A garden-essential trolley.
This arised talking to my grandmother who tends for her garden still at 76, she says the constant walk backs and carrying of tools has become tiring for her. She expressed to me the weight of tools and pots has started to take a toll on her and that where the idea of a movable storage emerged.
Taking into account for this project the use upcycled materials is a must, The project was done using some boxes I bought from Ikea on my first year, they were unused these in the past two years and it’s about time they serve a bigger purpose rather than accumulating dust in my room whilst unbuilt. The decomposed planks of those boxes are the main material, some joints to hold the already slabbed wood were printed in 3D and some laser cut supports made from leftover planks from mdf.

ASSEMBLY OF FLORA, THE GARDEN CART.

This is for my grandmother, Desiree, who still cares for her garden with so much love at 76. She inspired this entire project when in a conversation with her she was telling me about how tiring it’s become to carry tools and make constant trips back and forth and how she just can’t carry on herself the usual tool bags they market for gardening. I wanted to create something that could make gardening easier for her, something that could carry everything she needs in one trip so that she’d have just the perfect addition to her gardening experience.. Designing this cart gave the project a deeper purpose, connecting functionality with a way to show care and appreciation for everything she does.
